Attend a Meeting
Our general meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of the month at 7pm, unless otherwise noted. All parents, guardians, teachers and supporting staff of Gibbs and Ottoson students are always welcome to attend. It is the best way to keep up to speed on what we're up to. Our principals are often present as well.

Join the Board -- Open Positions:
Co-Secretary: takes minutes at our monthly meetings, typically held the first Tuesday at 7pm. Our current secretary has a work conflict that may require them to miss some meetings for the remainder of this year, so a partner to swap with when needed would be great! email email@example.com if you can take this on.
Co-Treasurer(s)*: Typically a 2 year commitment, for continuity and familiarity with the fiscal year. You will train with the existing co-treasurers this year, to prepare for a smooth transition into next year, train the next person after that and so on. Responsibilities include: PTO bank account management, grant payments, classroom supply reimbursements, MA non-profit filing, State and Federal tax filings, PTO insurance. If you would like to take on the Co-Treasurer role, email firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have questions about the Co-Treasurer role before comitting, please feel welcome to email email@example.com
*Our two existing co-treasurers will be graduating this spring. Training now gives the new persons time to learn the role before the handoff in June.
Join a Subcommittee
If you aren't ready to take on a GO PTO leadership role we have subcommittees that allow parents/caregivers to work on specific causes, or perhaps you have a cause in mind that you wish to take the lead on. Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to get involved with PTO in any way.
GOPTO Weekly Update Newsletter
Parent volunteers from GO PTO compile and edit a Weekly Update e-newsletter for Gibbs and Ottoson families. It is sent out on Mondays and contains announcements and reminders about upcoming events and activities at the school and in town that are relevant to middle school students.

Share news with us! Information about town- or school-sponsored events that you would like to share with the Gibbs and/or Ottoson communities can also be included in the Weekly Update. See the guidelines and how to submit.
PowerSchool is the district's system used to send communications from principals and administration, create school schedules, manage attendance, and issue grades.
If you're not receiving emails from the principals, please make sure that your profile and contact information in PowerSchool profile is up to date and that spe.schoolmessenger.com and arlington.k12.ma.us are added to your safe senders list so that the messages don't go to junk/spam.

Having Tech Issues? APS Digital Learning Department is Here to Help
For the 2020-2021 school year the Digital Learning Department has created the following form, APS Parent/Guardian Ed Tech Support for you to request help for your student(s) with apps, devices, and digital learning resources (i.e. Zoom, Google apps, etc.). The link can also found on the Digital Learning Page of the Arlington Public Schools website.
